A Legacy Built on Care
Wilson Care Group began with Shelley Wilson’s own experience of needing care.
After suffering life-changing injuries in a car accident at just 18 years old, Shelley experienced firsthand what it meant to depend on family during a long recovery. That experience planted the seed for what would eventually become Wilson Homecare.
After moving to Hawaiʻi, Shelley began helping people with errands and light household tasks. From those humble beginnings grew an organization that has spent three decades helping Hawaiʻi families care for the people they love.
Today, Wilson Care Group includes Wilson Homecare and Wilson Senior Living, providing families with care and support whether that means remaining safely at home or finding a supportive residential setting.
Passing the Torch to Someone Who Shares the Heart
When Shelley began thinking about the future of Wilson Care Group, finding the right person to lead the organization was about much more than professional experience.
It was about finding someone who understood its heart.
That person was Ellie Ventula-Honda.
Ellie brings more than 40 years of experience in leadership, healthcare-related organizations, philanthropy, fundraising, and community partnerships throughout Hawaiʻi. But just as importantly, she understands care on a deeply personal level.
Throughout her life, Ellie has helped care for parents and siblings during times of illness. She has also experienced being the one who needed care when her husband supported her through breast cancer.
Those experiences have helped shape a leadership philosophy centered on relationships, gratitude, compassion, and service.
As Ellie shared with MidWeek, she is committed to honoring what Shelley has built while carrying that legacy forward.
The Next 30 Years Begin With the Same Heart
Leadership may change, but the reason Wilson Care Group exists has not.
For 30 years, Wilson has been there for Hawaiʻi families during some of life’s most personal moments. Our caregivers, nurses, team members, clients, residents, families, and community partners have all helped shape who we are today.
As Ellie leads Wilson Care Group into its next chapter, we remain committed to providing compassionate, professional care that helps people maintain their independence, dignity, health, and well-being.
